ENNHRI (the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions) brings together 44 National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) from across wider Europe. NHRIs are independent institutions, with a broad legislative or constitutional mandate to promote and protect human rights. They are accredited by reference to the UN Paris Principles to ensure their independence, plurality, impartiality and effectiveness. ENNHRI is one of four regional groups of NHRIs, which together make up GANHRI, the Global Alliance of NHRIs. ENNHRI is an international not-forprofit association under Belgian law with a Permanent Secretariat based in Brussels.
We are looking for an Administration Trainee to become a member of our team for three months, starting from October 2019. A possible extension of three additional months will be considered. The candidate will play an important role in ENNHRI’s daily work, with a focus on ENNHRI administration support.
Main duties and tasks:
- Support the office’s internal communications, mainly in improving ENNHRI’s archiving system of electronic & physical files in line with our knowledge management procedure;
- Support in the transfer and updating of ENNHRI’s website, and branding / formatting of documents;
- Support in planning and organising ENNHRI events/meetings;
- Assist in the necessary practical arrangements for ENNHRI’s staff travelling (flights, accommodation, etc);
- Carrying out general administrative tasks, such as maintaining databases and responding to information requests, and support for Secretary General;
- Any other tasks, as reasonable for the post.
A traineeship contract at ENNHRI will support the successful candidate in developing his/her skills for entering the workplace. Given the high level of competition for the traineeship, we have set out below some skills that would help you get the most out of the traineeship at ENNHRI.

- Enthusiasm to learn and work in a small team;
- Experience and interest in administration and logistics;
- Excellent command of English, including excellent communication skills;
- Very good IT knowledge (Microsoft Office).
Terms of employment
- Previous experience with knowledge management;
- Experience working in a membership organisation;
- Experience/knowledge in working with SharePoint, or similar platform.
The traineeship will be offered for minimum 3 months (possibly extended to six months), starting as early as possible. The traineeship is full time and will be carried out at ENNHRI’s offices in Brussels. ENNHRI will provide the candidate with a Belgian traineeship contract “Convention d'immersion professionnelle” with a remuneration of approximately € 1.000 per month. Training will be provided based on needs and interests.
